Rote Reihe: Nils Hansen

 

"Rote Reihe" was a series of music education books published by Universal Edition from Vienna. Approx. 80 books were published in this series in the 70s and 80s, many with scores and exercices on experimental music for children. Some of the books came with 7" records. Here's side B from Nils Hansen's "Kreativität im Musikunterricht" (creativity in the music class), played by 5th graders (track 1) and 12th graders (tracks 2 and 3).

Hooray For Reading

Hooray For Reading was a "series of ten, minute-long shorts created by Field Communications for children. These would air during the commercial breaks on kid's shows and cartoons. These featured kids briefly doing some other activity besides reading (the "hook") and then describing a book they like using a brief dramatization of a part in the story."
I found these in the Museum of Classic Chicago TV on FuzzyMemories.tv, an enormous collaborative archive of off-air recordings of American television.

Falten und Spielen

I'm back from my trip to North America, where I had the chance to visit Ben from Toys and Techniques and his wife in their beautiful pre fab modernist house in Vermont (thanks again, Ben!). I might show some of the stuff I found during the trip here eventually.
But here's something Swiss that's been on top of the pile for a while. And it might come in handy to know how to fold a hat and a camera if you're still going on vacation or on an expedition in a paper forest.
